In March the students will be learning about elements of literary nonfiction. Using this knowledge students will be identifying books that are in this genre and reading text. As we are reading the text the students will be asking/answering questions, using context clues to define unknown words, and comparing two text with each other. The first text we will be reading is about a woman who writes books in braille. Then we will be learned about Abe Lincoln and comparing two text about the 16th President.
Math.
In math students will continue to be working with fractions. Students will be learning about what makes a fraction equivalent, recognizing equivalent fractions and drawing them. They will be using many tools to help them determine equivalent fractions such as fraction blocks, cuisenaire rods, drawing and number lines. After the students have learned about equivalent fractions we will be moving on to comparing fractions with either the same numerator or denominator.
