Reading:
In the month of February the students will be learning about elements of historical fiction. Using this knowledge students will be identifying books that are in this genre and reading text. As we are reading the text the students will be asking/answering questions, using context clues to define unknown words, and comparing two text with each other. The first two text they will be comparing will be by the same author and the second texts they will be comparing are about the same event.
Math.
In math students will continue to be working with fractions. They will be identifying and drawing fractions which are over one whole. Students will also be learning how to create a number line, how to partition it and identity fractions on the number line. Finally in February, students will be comparing what they have learned about a number line to a ruler and using this knowledge when measuring objects.
